To Whom It May Concern:
Back in 2010, when my daughter Michelle and her husband Gavin ran their second multi-day endurance event for charity, I decided to become involved locally.
The outcome of hugely generous Taree fundraising was that our small town was able to fund the reconstructive surgery of one young Noma survivor, Beshir Abdi.
Beshir, 11 years old at the time of his surgery, has gone from having a fused upper and lower jaw to now being able to chew his food normally. Apparently his father slaughtered a goat for his hometown in celebration! See Beshir's story ..
This year Shelley and Gav are running again, back in the deserts of Morocco, and once again raising funds for Facing Africa – Noma.
They are undertaking (for a second time!) what is arguably the toughest footrace on earth: 6 Marathons – 250km – 7 Days – 40+ Degree Heat –No Assistance – Across the Sahara Desert.
To support their worthy efforts my wife Lyn and I are again keen to raise funds locally on their behalf.
Should you feel able to assist in any way whatsoever we would all be thrilled and grateful.
